GCU Club Baseball inches up to No. 14 in latest NCBA DI Poll

Lopes begin NCBA play with impressive 3-game sweep of UCSD

GCU Club Sports is proud to announce that the Grand Canyon University Club Baseball team is ranked No. 14 in the current National Club Baseball Association (NCBA) Rawlings Division I Poll. The Lopes moved up one spot from their No. 15 slot in the NCBA Preseason Poll.

The Lopes made an emphatic push to move up this past weekend, dominating the University of California-San Diego in GCU's first three-game conference series in nearly two years.  Lopes' pitching was relentless in blanking the Tritons three straight times: 9-0 and 6-0 in Saturday's doubleheader, and a 6-0 finisher in Game 3 of the series Sunday morning. The series was also historic, because it christened the brand-new Colter Baseball Field, the Lopes' new home field on the GCU campus.

The Lopes now have a weekend off from NCBA (and Southern Pacific South Conference) play. Their lone matchup of the week happens Thursday, February 17 as they head across town to face another Phoenix-area community college foe, Paradise Valley Community College, in a 3 pm single game.  The Lopes' next three-game SoPac South clash happens Saturday and Sunday, February 26 and 27, when they travel to southern California to battle San Diego State University.
