Phoenix, Arizona – November 22, 2024 –
GCU Men's Club Basketball Team 1, coming off of their National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association National Championship run last year, kept their conference record undefeated with opened up their Arizona Collegiate Basketball League season with a 79-47 against Hillcrest Academy Tuesday night at the
Canyon Activity Center. The win gives the Lopes a 6-0 ACBL record after playing well during a difficult non-conference schedule against community colleges to bring their overall record to 12-3.
The win stemmed from an all-around effort, though most of the scoring was done by Lopes' senior guard
David Black and junior forward
Uriah Stokes, who combined for 34 points.

"Both teams were undefeated in conference play, so we knew what was at stake," said
GCU Head Coach Lamont Lane. "It was a complete team effort, and a blowout win like this shows just how locked in we are as we push for our third straight ACBL title."
Although the Lopes have played a more strenuous schedule compared to last year thus far, they have stacked quality non-conference wins, including a 13-point win over Phoenix College and a 31-point victory over Glendale Community College.

"Being 12-3 overall and 6-0 in conference says a lot about the work this team has put in," said Lane. "We've played some of the toughest competition in Arizona at this level, and the guys have stepped up.
Jiovanni Tapia and
Jack Brackmann have been big for us offensively, while
Hunter Wales has filled some big shoes in the paint."
Looking forward, GCU returns to the CAC Tuesday, December 3 for two games. They'll host Stanton University at 3PM before returning to ACBL action against GCU Team 5 at 5:30PM.
