Citing the needs of her growing family, Grand Canyon University Women's Lacrosse Head Coach Tracy Ramirez has stepped down after a full decade at the helm of the program. GCU Club Sports Director Dr. Dan Nichols announced the resignation earlier today.
 
"Tracy was a valued member of our coaching staff for a decade," said Nichols. "She established a fun, exciting culture for our program that we want to continue to build on."
 
Ramirez built the Lopes from a squad in 2017 - whose season ended with a Women's Collegiate Lacrosse Associates Division II National Semifinals appearance and a Western Women's Lacrosse League Division II title — into a growing contender at the Division 1 level, culminating with the program's first-ever WCLA Division I National Championship qualifier in 2024. That season, Ramirez's Lopes rallied from a .500 record midway through the season to catch fire in the WWLL Playoffs with wins over San Diego State University and University of California (Berkeley), finish 3rd and clinch an at-large bid to nationals, where they finished 14^th.
 
Over her tenure, Ramirez guided GCU to five playoff berths — including the last four seasons. Ramirez closed her tenure this past April with a 4-11 season that ended in a loss to Cal in the 5th-place game of the 2026 WWLL Playoffs.
 
A search for Ramirez's replacement will begin immediately.
