Rich Warnol celebrates 11 years as head coach of the Grand Canyon University Club Baseball team after reaching new heights for the program the last six years. Warnol led the Lopes to the National Club Baseball Association Division 1 World Series in 2018 and 2019. In 2024, he helped them make a triumphant return - not just to the event, but to the championship game for the 2nd time in the program's history. In 2022, the Division 2 team won the NCBA World Series Championship under guidance of Warnol and fellow head coach Kim Carpenter.
Prior to arriving at GCU, Warnol’s college coaching experience includes three years at Arizona Christian University as interim head coach and then assistant coach. Warnol has also had successful coaching stints at the Phoenix-area high school level, including 10 years as an assistant coach at Horizon High School, and six years combined as a head coach at Scottsdale Christian Academy, Pinnacle High School and North Canyon High School.
Warnol’s passion is to build belief in his players while teaching them to play as a unit. He prioritizes growth in young men by teaching the game the right way, and how to have integrity throughout life.
Warnol was a four-year starter at Biola University and was a first-team NCAA All-American. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and later earned a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University, and a Master of Arts degree in Youth and Family Ministry from Grand Canyon University. Warnol has been married for 31 years to his wife, Holly. He has three adult kids – Tanner, Kassidy, and Brayden, as well as a son-in-law Austin.
