After a historic freshman season with the GCU Flag Football team, Caleb Speier becomes the team’s new co-student coach (along with Sam Martin) this fall. Speier was part of the Lopes’ Cinderella championship run through the City of Scottsdale Adult Spring League this past March.
The 2022-23 season will only be Speier’s 6th year playing organized football, but the GCU sophomore has grown and excelled each year he’s played the game. Soccer and baseball were the two sports that Speier initially loved while growing up in Glendora, a suburb of Los Angeles, California. When Speier got to Glendora High School, however, he was ready for something new, and tried football. While it wasn’t ‘love at first sight’, the sport eventually grew on Speier, who wound up playing tackle football all four years of his high school career at Glendora and Bonita High Schools.
Speier is a Business Management major at GCU and has set his sights on graduating with his bachelor’s degree in December of 2024.
