The father-and-son duo of John and Darin Olver arrived as a package deal in 2022, and as the third year of Darin Olver’s college coaching career commences, he continues to come into his own after helping lead the Lopes to their first-ever berth in the ACHA National Championships last April.
Olver stepped out of a fruitful playing career and into the coaching world for the first time in 2022 for GCU. Darin’s finest season of his 15-year playing career was in 2010-11, when he was the Deutsche Eishockey Liga’s Player of the Year, leading the league in points and assists. He also led his teams to DEL Championship in 2011-12 and 2012-13.
Alongside father John, the Lopes’ Associate Head Coach, Darin is helping to coach the Junior Coyotes 150 Tier I (2007 age group) team this year as well.
