2nd year holding the reins. 3rd year with the GCU Men’s Club Soccer program. 10th year as a soccer coach. These are the immediate credentials of Tim Mehrhof as he begins Year 2 as head coach of one of GCU Club Sports’ largest programs.
Mehrhof has been part of unprecedented growth with club soccer, and looks to further expand on the nearly 120 players that took part during his first year as head coach in 2022. The native Phoenician grew up on the west side of town, attending Apollo High School and not only playing soccer for the Hawks for three years, but leading the team in scoring (as a defender!) and an undefeated record his senior season while earning All-State honors in both his junior and senior seasons.
From there, Mehrhof put his playing career to rest while attending Glendale Community College, but began his coaching career teaching elementary school kids the fundamentals of soccer for the AYS U-10 Soccer League. Mehrhof then spent several years away from the game while working in the private sector, but the love of the sport called him back in 2014. That’s when he agreed to be head soccer coach at BASIS Peoria Charter School, coaching several Scorpions’ teams to the playoffs for the next seven years. In 2021, Mehrhof headed from Peoria to GCU to join up with Petar Draksin’s men’s club soccer program, ascending from lead assistant to head coach after a year.
Mehrhof continues to balance his coaching career with his career as a business owner, leading Mehrhof Stone Innovations since 2008.
