Grand Canyon University Club Sports

She’s the one who ushered a new exciting era for the program. Alex Messana begins her 7^th season as head coach of Grand Canyon University Club Stunt team three years after redirecting the club from Club Spirit to Club Stunt.

Prior to arriving at GCU, Messana was the head coach of cheer at Glendale Community College. Messana has coached all age levels of athletes. Messana has coached and choreographed routines at various local Phoenix area schools. During her tenure at North Pointe Preparatory, she led her coed team to 2014 AIA Overall State Spiritline Championship in the Coed Division II and followed that season with AIA Runner-Up Coed Division II.  Messana has experience in all-star cheer as well. She was a co-owner of Arizona Heat All-Stars for three years where she helped to rebuild the program as the Gym Director. In addition to her coaching experience, Messana has been a judge at various Arizona cheer competitions, including judging for the Arizona Interscholastic Association.

Messana has been certified by The American Association of Cheerleading Coaches and Administrators (AACCA), National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS), and The US All Star Federation (USASF).

Messana graduated in 2016 from Grand Canyon University with a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management.  In her spare time, she enjoys traveling with her husband, Steven, and their sons, Connor and Caden.
