Jeremy Phung has led the Grand Canyon University Club Swimming program since its inception in 2016, helping build it from the ground up after joining the team as a freshman before transitioning into the program's full-time head coach. During his time with the Lopes, Phung helped establish GCU as a member of Collegiate Club Swimming (CCS), a national organization featuring more than 150 club programs across the country.
Under his leadership, GCU has developed into one of the nation's premier collegiate club swimming programs, capturing multiple CCS Western Region championships and earning several top-10 finishes at CCS Nationals, including a national runner-up finish.
Phung earned a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science with an emphasis in Sports Performance from Grand Canyon University. He began swimming at the age of six and attended Gilbert Classical Academy, where he was a three-year state swimmer and served as team captain during his senior season. He also competed for Rio Salado Swim Club and has been a member of U.S. Masters Swimming. As a Masters swimmer, he won his age division at the Arizona Long Course State Championship in 2016.
In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, Phung has spent more than a decade as a swim instructor and coach, working with athletes ranging from preschool beginners to competitive high school swimmers.
Jeremy and his wife, Sarah, reside in Arizona with their daughter, Olivia.
