Basketball has been part of Brooke Baumis’ life since her youth in West Lafayette, Indiana — and she’s now bringing that lifelong connection to the game to the GCU sideline as the new head coach of the Lopes’ Women’s Club Basketball program. A multi-sport athlete at West Lafayette High School, Baumis competed at the varsity level in basketball and volleyball and reached the sectional, regional, and state levels in track and field, including a championship title in the long jump. She went on to continue her basketball involvement at Purdue University, where she served as a practice player for the Boilermakers’ women’s basketball program while earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.
After her playing days, Baumis gained her first coaching experience working with youth basketball players at the 2nd and 5th grade levels before transitioning into a professional career in the mortgage industry, where she has thrived over the past dozen years.
