She’s making history as the first full-time head coach (and second head coach overall) in GCU Club Women's Flag Football history as Casa Grande native Jensen Joaquin joins the GCU Club Sports fold in July 2026. Joaquin arrives with coaching experience that traces directly to the sport's high school ranks, having served as an assistant coach for the Vista Grande High School girls flag football program in her hometown before signing on as a volunteer coach at Buckeye's Canyon View High School.
She has also lived the game from the player's side as a quarterback in the Phoenix-area’s The Proving Grounds Flag Football League in the Phoenix area, and Joaquin continues to play for her travel team today. Her athletic roots run through softball as well, where she starred as an infielder at Casa Grande High School and Scottsdale Community College before later serving as head varsity softball coach at Phoenix’s St. Mary's High School in 2020-21. She also spent three years as a strength and conditioning intern coach for League of Champions.
Joaquin's work outside of athletics is rooted in mentorship and youth development. She came to GCU after serving as a Youth Corrections Officer at Adobe Mountain School for 15 months. She previously worked as a special education English teacher at Vista Grande High School and substitute teacher in the Glendale and Peoria school districts; and spent eight years in the health and wellness industry as a Corporate Ambassador for One Stop Nutrition.
Joaquin holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Arizona State University and an Associate of Arts degree from Scottsdale Community College.
