The Grand Canyon University Men's Lacrosse team is ranked No. 11 in the latest Under Armour Men's Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA) Division I Coaches' Poll. It's a drop of two spots from the No. 9 ranking they held in the preseason poll. The Lopes remain one of four SLC teams ranked in the MCLA Top 20 (Chapman is ranked 1st, Concordia-Irvine is 11th, and Arizona State is 13th).
While the Lopes' 13-10 loss in their season opener to now-No. 20 Santa Clara influenced their slight descent in the poll, GCU will get three big chances over the next week to leap back into the MCLA Top 10. They'll face three more nationally ranked opponents in the next seven days, and all three matches will be at home on the GCU campus. The Lopes will host back-to-back games at Prescott Field on the GCU campus this weekend, taking on No. 14 UC-Santa Barbara Saturday before clashing with No. 23 Cal Poly Sunday. Then the Lopes will get their first chance to turn up the lights at GCU Stadium next Thursday night, February 28 when they take on No. 9 Colorado at 7 pm. Admission to each of those games is FREE.
