Buoyed by back-to-back home wins in successive weekends, the
Grand Canyon University Men's Lacrosse team rose to No. 19 in the latest 2022 New Balance Men's Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA) Division I Coaches Poll. The move up from their No. 20 last week gives the Lopes their highest national ranking since they were No. 16 in the poll in mid-March of 2019. The Lopes have now been ranked in all but one of the six MCLA Polls this season, and it's the 89
th time in the last 92 MCLA Polls (dating back to Week 7 of the 2013 season) that GCU is among the 25 best teams in men's lacrosse. The Lopes' host conference, the Southwestern Lacrosse Conference, still remains the toughest conference in the nation with six teams ranked in the MCLA Top 25 (Concordia University Irvine remains 2
nd, the University of Southern California drops to 12
th, the University of Arizona, Arizona State University and Chapman University are all right behind each other at 14
th, 15
th and 16
th, respectively).
After a pair of big offensive performances in home wins against University of Nevada and San Diego State University, the Lopes will be tested this weekend in their last two games held at
Prescott Field on the GCU campus this season. The Lopes first host UCLA on Saturday, April 2 at 11AM before winding up the weekend at 1PM Sunday with a battle between nationally ranked powers against No. 12 USC. Admission to both games is FREE.
