GCU Club Sports is proud to announce that for the second straight time, the
Grand Canyon University Club Baseball team is ranked No. 3 in the latest National Club Baseball Association (NCBA) Rawlings Division I Poll. It's the third straight poll that the Lopes have been ranked No. 4 or higher – the first time they've enjoyed that kind of sustained national respect since the 2019 season.
The Lopes maintained their top-3 ranking by staying perfect in Southern Pacific South Conference play this past weekend. GCU's second conference road trip of the season was a dominant one as the Lopes' powerful offense posted double-digit run totals in all three games against the University of Arizona in Tucson. The Lopes shellacked the Wildcats in both halves of Saturday's doubleheader, 12-2 and 16-1, before coming back Sunday to finish off the sweep with an 11-6 victory. The series sweep kept the Lopes on top of the SoPac South Standings with a 9-0 record.
The Lopes' biggest threat to their undefeated status happens this weekend, though, since they'll make their final road trip of the season to face a nationally ranked opponent. Fortunately for the Lopes, they won't leave the Phoenix area, since they'll venture to Tempe to battle the No. 13 Sun Devils of Arizona State University in a three-game set beginning this Saturday, April 9. The Lopes will then come home for their final series in conference play on Saturday and Sunday, April 23 and 24. They'll host Northern Arizona University in their only series of the season at GCU's main baseball facility,
Brazell Field at GCU Ballpark, beginning at 10AM – both for Saturday's doubleheader and Sunday's single game.
