After getting out of the gates with their best start ever to a season on the Division 1 level, the
Grand Canyon University D1 Men's Hockey team is ranked No. 10 in the latest American Collegiate Hockey Association Division 1 Poll. It's the highest national ranking the Lopes have ever had, usurping the No. 11 ranking they earned the last two weeks.
The Lopes' penchant for a rabid pace while still maintaining a stingy defense has resulted in an undefeated 5-0 start to the season – easily the longest winning streak to start a season in the six years at the D1 level for the program. The Lopes earned their 5
th win of the season in grueling fashion last Friday,
holding off the charge of 13th-ranked University of Arizona, 3-2, at AZ Ice Gilbert. The Lopes' new ranking will immediately be tested this weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada, as they kick off a two-game set with the top-ranked team in the nation, the University of Nevada-Las Vegas, beginning tonight.
