Caleb Karg

He arrived at GCU as a pre-med student with a 4.0 GPA, a soccer background, and a drive to help people move and feel better — and it didn’t take long for Caleb Karg to find his place in the Lopes’ CrossFit community. Now heading into his 2nd year as the Lopes’ Student Head CrossFit Coach, Karg grew up in Minnesota and played soccer and ran track through his high school years before continuing at Concordia College in Moorhead, where he was a member of the varsity track and field team and the Concordia Soccer Club — and carried a 4.0 GPA to earn Dean’s List honors. He transferred to GCU, joined the Men’s Club Soccer team for the 2023-24 season, and hasn’t slowed down since.

At GCU, Karg has been the Personal Training Lead for the GCU Performance Optimization, Wellness, and Exercise Research Lab (and before that, the GCU Student Wellness & Health Association) and led biweekly campus seminars on holistic health up until this past spring. He’s replaced those seminars with weekly team lifts & programming for more hands-on personal training education. He’s also conducted client physical assessments and designed individualized strength and injury-prevention programs — work that mirrors the patient-centered career he’s building toward. Finally, he’s a NASM Certified Personal Trainer and BLS certified and is active in the Canyon Neuroscience Research Group.

Off campus, Karg assists at Circle the City's Downtown Family Health Center in Phoenix with patient check-in and even hosting bingo; as well as volunteers as a Sunday school teacher for a refugee Congolese congregation through Kanisa Kids Ministry. He’s currently on track to complete his Bachelor of Science in Pre-Medicine from GCU in December 2026, and has his sights set on earning a Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine beyond that.
