Dominic Brink

  • Title
    CrossFit Student Leader
After spending the last two years learning the leadership ropes from both the GCU Club Sports Leadership Program as well as now-graduated student coach Maddy Hinman, Dominic Brink takes the reins as the most tenured student coach of GCU CrossFit in 2024-25. Brink’s role in the leadership of the program increased steadily throughout the 2023-24 season. Brink also heads into his 3rd year as one of the program’s top student-athletes.

CrossFit is the latest signature sport for Brink, who has excelled on just about every playing surface he’s been on. A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Brink went to Royalmont Classical Prep Academy during his high school days, and Royalmont had eight sports on campus, and Brink excelled in three of them. Brink ran cross country in the fall, earning team MVP honors as a junior, and in the spring, played volleyball, winning that team’s Most Valuable Player award during his freshman and senior seasons; and showed off more distance running for the Cristeros’ Track and Field team, running the 1600 meters, 3200 meters and 400-meter dash.

So where did CrossFit enter the picture? For Brink, it was in high school where he started it to stay strong and prevent injuries, and when he arrived at GCU, Dominic joined the Lopes’ squad and has continued to grow in the sport ever since – not just with the weights but with his leadership skills. Discovering the sport in high school also gave him his future direction, since he used CrossFit to learn more about physical therapy, and Brink will graduate from GCU this coming spring with a degree in Pre-Physical Therapy. From there, Brink will stay in school to earn a Doctorate in Physical Therapy.
