Greensboro, North Carolina – June 17, 2026 – The Grand Canyon University Club Swimming team concluded another impressive season with a 5
th-place finish at the 2026 TYR College Club Swimming National Championships, held at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, North Carolina. The Lopes were led by a strong women's contingent that finished third, while the GCU men finished 16th. In total, 25 Lopes competed among a field of 143 teams.
Lopes' junior
Madison Logue paced the team with 93 individual points, highlighted by runner-up finishes in both the 200-yard Backstroke and 200-yard Individual Medley. Logue also added a third-place finish in the 400-yard Individual Medley, giving the Lopes three podium finishes from one swimmer.
"Madison has been one of our hardest working athletes the last two years and we are super proud of her and all the work she has put in," said GCU Head Coach
Jeremy Phung. "She was recently accepted into the nursing program, so it's been incredible watching her balance academics with athletics. There wasn't a more deserving person on our nationals squad."
Isabella Parish continued the Lopes' Women's success with a third-place finish in the 100-yard Breaststroke and a fourth-place finish in the 50-yard Breaststroke, totaling 73 points. Parish also played a key role in GCU's relay success throughout the weekend as the Lopes' relay teams delivered several of the program's top performances. The women's 800-yard Freestyle Relay placed second nationally, while the 400-yard Medley Relay (Parish swam the breaststroke portion) earned a third-place finish. GCU also recorded 5
th-place finishes in both the 200-yard Freestyle Relay and Co-Ed 200-yard Freestyle Relay.
"We had a lot of people graduating, so putting together the right relay teams was crucial for us to capitalize this year," said Phung. "The team knows how important relays are, and they are good at recognizing that if [the coaches] make changes it's nothing personal. We work a lot on exchanges during practice and mix things up to make sure everybody is prepared."
Additional scoring performances came from
Lily Wilson, who finished sixth in the 200-yard Individual Medley, and
Alexis Hoblet, who placed seventh in the 200-yard Butterfly.
Emma Creager,
Julia Larsen, and
Madison Lohse also contributed valuable points throughout the three-day championship meet.
On the men's side,
Timothy Kenigsberg led the Lopes with 23 points, highlighted by a 13th-place finish in the 100-yard Butterfly.
Zachary Cozart added an 11th-place finish in the 1000-yard Freestyle, while
Fredrik Larsen scored in the 200-yard Backstroke.
The fifth-place finish capped another successful campaign for GCU Club Swimming, which also placed second at CCS Western Regionals last fall.
"A top-5 finish has been something we've known our women's team has been capable of for years, and third exceeded those expectations," said Phung. "Our men's team is smaller than it's been in the past, but they've done a great job to hold their own and work hard despite that. Competition was hard this year, but our veteran athletes really paved the way, and our freshmen came in fresh and excited."
